Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how My Date Link (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the “Service”) at mydatelink.com.

Public profiles + pause/hide option

My Date Link is designed for public and discoverable dating profiles. If you pause your account, your profile is hidden from public view and some functionality is limited while paused.

1. Information we collect

A. Information you provide

  • Account information: email address, password (or sign-in token), and authentication details.
  • Profile information: photos, display name/username, bio, and other details you choose to add to your profile.
  • Location information: location details you voluntarily enter (such as city, neighborhood, or other descriptive location text), as well as standardized location data (such as city, state, and country) derived from that input using a third-party geocoding service. To help suggest relevant locations, our geocoding provider may process IP address information at the time of the request. We do not collect or use precise GPS location from your device.
  • Messages and interactions: messages, likes, matches, blocks, and reports.
  • Customer support: info you include when you contact us.
  • Payments and subscriptions: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payments are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We receive limited payment-related information such as subscription status, plan type, and billing history, but we do not store full payment card numbers or sensitive financial information.

B. Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, and activity on the Service. IP addresses are used for security, fraud prevention, basic analytics, and may be shared with service providers that help deliver features such as location search.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: used for login sessions, security, preferences, analytics, and advertising measurement.
  • Error and performance data: we collect diagnostic information to help detect and fix bugs (for example, crash reports and performance traces).

C. Public vs hidden profiles

If your account is active, your profile may be publicly accessible to anyone (including visitors without an account). By default, visitors without an account will only see your main photo. If you pause your account, your profile is intended to be hidden from public view, though limited technical artifacts (such as cached copies) may persist briefly.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Create and manage accounts and authenticate users.
  • Display profiles (including public profiles when accounts are active) and enable sharing via profile links and QR codes.
  • Enable matching, likes, messaging, and other core features.
  • Use location information you provide (and standardized location data derived from it) to support features such as discovery, displaying relevant profiles, and preventing fraud or abuse.
  • Process subscriptions and manage billing (through our payment processor).
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
  • Communicate with you about the Service (including transactional emails such as login, security, and billing messages).
  • Monitor and analyze usage to improve performance and UX.

3. How we share information

We may share information:

  • With the public: when your account is active, information you include on your profile may be visible publicly.
  • With service providers: vendors that help run the Service (hosting, databases, analytics, email delivery, error tracking, and payment processing).
  • For legal and safety reasons: to comply with law or protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the Service.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Key third-party services we use

  • Cloudinary (image storage and delivery)
  • PostHog (product analytics)
  • Google Search Ads (marketing attribution and conversion measurement only)
  • Sentry (error tracking and performance monitoring)
  • Stripe (payment processing and subscription management)
  • Mapbox (location search and geocoding based on user-entered information; may use IP address context to improve suggestions)

4. Cookies, analytics, and marketing measurement

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, maintain security, remember preferences, and understand how the Service is used. We also use marketing measurement tools (such as Google Search Ads conversion tracking) to understand how users find our Service and to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you block certain cookies, parts of the Service may not function properly.

5. Data retention

We keep information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify personal information, subject to limited retention for:

  • security, fraud prevention, and abuse investigations
  • legal compliance
  • system backups (which may persist for a limited period)

6. Account pause and deletion

Pause (hide profile)

If you pause your account, your profile is intended to be hidden from public viewing and certain features may be limited until you reactivate.

Immediate deletion

If you delete your account, deletion is intended to occur immediately. Some information may persist for a limited time in logs and backups, or as required for legal and safety purposes.

7. Your choices & controls

  • Edit profile: update or remove profile content at any time.
  • Location permissions: you can enable or disable precise location access in your device/browser settings.
  • Marketing emails: unsubscribe using links in emails. Transactional emails (login/security/billing) may still be sent.

8. Children’s privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us at [email protected].

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. US state privacy disclosures (including California)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to or deletion of personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity.

Do Not Sell or Share: We do not sell personal information for money. We may share limited identifiers (such as cookies or conversion signals) with analytics and marketing measurement providers solely to understand how users discover our Service and to measure campaign performance. We do not display third-party ads on the Service. To opt out, contact [email protected] with subject “Privacy Opt-Out”.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
